Having once been "the kid", and since having the tables turned on me by my kid wanting to learn to play drums, I have a rather unique perspective on this. I KNOW what it's like to be both the kid AND the parent who hears those dreaded words..."I want to play the drums!"

Electronic Percussion: An explanation of what it is and how it works Print E-mail

A lot of people have seen the cool or strange looking electronic drum kits at the local music shops. Some have tried them out, usually coming away with the “They don’t play or sound like real drums do”. Some kits do, some don’t. The more “Entry Level” e-drum setups sound distinctly artificial, while the other high end e-drum kits could successfully masquerade as an acoustic kit on a recording.
